Water Lilies
photography as impressionism



  At about 38K, the following water lily photo is much larger than my custom to show on the web, but it is also one of the odder pictures that I have taken. The reflection reminds me more of a Monet painting than what is expected via such a "realistic" medium as photography.

It certainly looks like someone with a palette knife worked on those reflections. Or perhaps, as I have always believed, the Impressionists were much closer to reality that the word "impression" implies.

  The water lilies are from the entrance ponds to Saddle Rock, and I used a 300mm lens with a Pentax LX.
